Station upgrade announcement
On Saturday, 26 October 2024, the Premier of South Australia, Peter Malinauskas MP, announced the successful implementation of the Neighbourhood Watch safety and security campaign for Marino Railway Station. This milestone reflects a concerted effort by the South Australian Government and local advocates to enhance security at the station.
The government has committed a $2 million investment for upgrades at Marino Railway Station. Planned improvements include the installation of CCTV cameras, an emergency phone, a new all-weather shelter, and platform modifications to increase safety and comfort for commuters. Construction is set to begin in the first half of 2025.
The campaign, initiated over two years ago, has achieved substantial support from the local Neighbourhood Watch Committee, the support team, residents, and community businesses. Special thanks go to everyone who signed the Neighbourhood Watch House of Assembly Petition and to the many local businesses and community organizations that joined the campaign, demonstrating strong community solidarity.
This achievement stands as a significant win for the Marino community, illustrating the impact of grassroots efforts in driving meaningful changes. Community members actively shared their experiences, with many welcoming campaign organisers into their homes to discuss their hopes for safer, improved infrastructure.
Updates will continue as work progresses on the Marino Railway Station safety and security upgrade. Heartfelt congratulations are extended to the community for this success and for making a real difference through unity and determination.
